A committed family man and father of three, competitive triathlete and two-time Ironman, Mike Crippen brings his competitive nature and creative fire to leading SOLID. His ultimate goal and driving passion is realizing his vision to create something entirely unique in the commercial interiors industry. To that end, Mike has assembled a team of specialists that make SOLID the nation’s premier solution in comprehensive surface care. A graduate of The Citadel with a degree in Business Administration, Mike began his career as a commercial flooring sales representative and founded Commercial Flooring Solutions in 1996. He has transformed this venture into the dynamic client-centric organization that SOLID is today and is seeking to change the industry through the creation of a global organization of experts, delivering self-performed solutions for all surface care.
Mike’s belief that anything is possible animates the culture at SOLID, which has been repeatedly recognized as a leader in its field. “Be Great” isn’t just one of SOLID’s core values, it’s a personal mantra in all he does. As SOLID’s Visionary, Mike has structured the ongoing merger and acquisition strategy that is making SOLID the leading provider of portfolio-wide services in our industry. The consistency of Mike’s example and message has been instrumental in raising consciousness about preventive floor maintenance, asset preservation and, perhaps most importantly, making quality service and craftsmanship matter again.
Chief Information Officer
You’ve been warned. Elizabeth holds the title for most innovative practical jokes at SOLID. And while many talk innovation, Elizabeth actually innovates. After recognizing a need in the marketplace, she designed and implemented ES4U, the end-to-end web-based enterprise solution enjoyed by SOLID clients. Elizabeth’s background encompasses both accounting and business management.
A graduate of the College of Charleston with a degree in Business, Elizabeth is, in addition to her duties as CIO and Director of Enterprise Solutions, the primary contact for many SOLID national accounts. She supervises a team of project managers who identify and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for each account. Under her leadership, the company has achieved more than 95% adherence on work order SLA initiatives, reported greater than 15% productivity savings and implemented countless national programs for our clients. A past member of the Minority Business Council, Elizabeth is active in the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.
Director of Operations
Dan is known as a fixer who treats every project with a sense of urgency. He has an uncanny talent for knowing where the hidden pieces to any puzzle are, and how to put them together. As Director of Operations, Dan is the rare ‘get it done’ guy who interacts equally well with CEOs and technicians.
Dan brings a unique point of view to the facilities industry from his years as a management partner with large national chains such as Outback Steakhouse, Hops and Brinker International, where he built brands from the ground up. His experience within the hospitality industry instilled an unwavering commitment to customer service and the ability to coach team members to achieve greatness beyond their expectations. Dan has been a SOLID partner for nearly two decades and directs the targets and performance of all operations personnel, selects world-class chemistries and equipment, and designs processes that continually delight clients.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Chad is what is known as a “Barney,” a rookie surfer. That’s no surprise since he grew up in the Midwest over 1,000 miles from any ocean. But learning how to surf in his late 30’s illustrates how Chad exemplifies the SOLID commitment to never stop broadening your expertise. An owner of a facilities services company (Facility Services, Inc.) for the last two decades, Chad brings extensive knowledge in owning and managing businesses. His experience with national brands such as Noodles & Company, Qdoba Mexican Grill and Budget Blinds, from both an employee and owner perspective, developed his skill in opening businesses from the ground up and led him along the path to becoming one of the founding partners of SOLID.
Chad currently serves as SOLID’s Director of Sales and Marketing, where he applies his wealth of knowledge in delivering world-class client experience. A graduate of Illinois State University, he has dual bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Business Information Systems. In his spare time, Chad still loves to get away to a beach with his wife and two boys to keep hitting those waves and hopefully someday shed that Midwest Barney tag!
Global Technical Director
Perfectionist Phil is likely the only surfaces expert who was once a professional baseball scout. He has a keen eye for evaluating talent, performance and personalities. These characteristics lend well to the world of surface care. Being a third generation craftsmen, Phil is committed to mentoring the next generation, including his three sons who work in the industry, to keep the art of restoration alive and well. His advice on stone care is world-renowned, he has published articles on restoration and maintenance, conducted seminars and training classes for companies and professional organizations, and authored trade manuals for the maintenance of architectural surfaces.
Phil has been a member of the NSI (National Stone Institute), NTMA (National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association), ASCC (American Society of Concrete Contractors), as well as USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council), BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association International), IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) and IFMA (International Facility Management Association). He also holds ICRI Certification for Independent Slab Moisture Testing in concrete, a Walkway Auditor Certificate from NFSI (The National Floor Safety Institute) and is a California Specialty Contractor Qualifier. Phil has been instrumental in inventing, developing, designing, modifying and testing equipment, tooling and chemistries in the hard surface industries.
Chief Financial Officer
Lynn is a numbers person who thrives on building sincere relationships and contributing to the success of a client’s brand. As CFO, she brings a unique dedication to responsible stewardship and caring about people to her role as a member of SOLID’s executive team. After spending nine years in public accounting, she decided to devote the balance of her career to the service industry. Lynn has worked as both CFO and COO in healthcare services, including Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants and ACO Medical Supply.
Lynn understands the complexities of portfolio-wide service agreements, which is why she seeks to make the process as efficient and clear as possible. A graduate of Valdosta State University with bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Accounting, Lynn received her CPA certification in 1988. Her duties with SOLID include planning, budgeting and implementing strategic business initiatives. A lover of the outdoors, Lynn cherishes time with her family.
Director of Human Resources
Hard work and commitment to people are nothing new to Angela. She has over 25 years of Human Resources experience with Fortune 500 companies, including Wells Fargo, Bank of America and Microsoft. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and serves as SOLID’s Director of Human Resources. In addition to training & development and performance analysis, Angela’s areas of expertise include recruitment, benefits administration and employment law.
Like many at SOLID, Angela takes competing seriously right down to her physical activity level. She swims, bikes, runs and competes in multiple triathlons and full and half marathons annually. She even competes internationally in events like the Schneider Electric Marathon in Paris.
One of three founding members of SOLID, Tom traces his association with SOLID’s CEO, Mike Crippen, to 1995. Tom founded and led Trilogyfm, a surface care company in Atlanta for over two decades. In the business community, Tom has been a consistent leader within IFMA Atlanta (International Facility Management Association), serving on their board since 1997.
Tom’s passion for people is what makes him create a positive culture of caring for others. He strives to create authentic long-term relationships with team members and clients, working insightfully to understand their wants and needs. His kindness and patience encourage people to work with him.
A few of Tom’s sources of inspiration are John Wooden’s A Lifetime of Observations, Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People and Noel Hudson’s The Valued Partner. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland. Tom is married to wife Carol and has two children.
